2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA vs GLC

Serving Paramus, Ridgewood, and Fair Lawn, NJ

Mercedes-Benz continues its long tradition of offering premium-quality automobiles at a price that beats much of the competition. Recently, the company has modified both its sedans and SUVs, and 2016 ushers in a new generation of two of the most popular models, the GLA compact crossover and the new for 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV. Both are offered at an attractive price and are loaded with convenience features. Like all other vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz, the 2016 GLA and GLC models promise excellent handling, plenty of horsepower, and the most advanced and innovative high-tech features. Whether you're in the market for a compact or mid-size crossover, our Paramus, NJ Mercedes-Benz dealership has just the vehicle you're looking for.

Unlike an economically equipped sedan or compact car, the 2016 GLA and GLC are built to handle the highway. The turbocharged engine on the GLA offers quick acceleration with no hesitation. You can choose a larger, 355-horsepower engine if you wish, and the quick-shifting transmission means plenty of power to pass the slower traffic. The available three-mode stability control system allows you to customize your level of handling control versus horsepower depending on the type of road surface. The 2016 GLC delivers more than 240 horsepower and comes with an available AIRMATIC® suspension system, perfect for off-road use. A nine-speed automatic transmission is standard on both the gasoline and diesel versions. Just in case you need to really motor along, keep in mind that a properly equipped GLC can approach speeds of 120 miles per hour. Needless to say, the handling and steering control on both vehicles is superb.

Appearance and Personality

Both the 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLC crossovers have a distinctly conservative yet stylish outward appearance. The lines on both vehicles are more slight in curve than the sharp drop-offs and tight corners found on the body of many competing vehicles. Nonetheless, you'll be impressed with the integration of the body lines and window arrangement. The interior of the 2016 GLA crossover is roomy enough for a full load of adult passengers, and the hatchback styling actually increases the cabin volume. The materials quality is well above average, with walnut, ash, and aluminum accents. The driver's seat is perfectly elevated, and the center stack console is very easy to read. The 2016 GLC has one of the most comfortable set of front and rear seats of any SUV, and the ride is quieter than just about any other crossover on the market. Of course, the high-tech gizmos are found throughout the cabin on both vehicles and include a large touchscreen display, driver alert systems, and multi-zone climate control. The GLC even has a touchpad writing surface on the infotainment screen. Both from the inside and out, both vehicles are sure to please the eye of the beholder.

Both the 2016 GLA and GLC crossovers come complete with a full set of airbags, and advanced stability and traction control system, and standard driver alert sensors. The GLA has Collision Prevention Assist, a set of radar controls that senses forward and sideward objects. Both the GLA and GLC have a rearview camera, parking sensors, and an optional adaptive cruise control. Mercedes-Benz offers a Driver Assistance package that heaps on even more high-tech safety and security features, with collision notification and roadside assistance available.

You can't really go wrong with a crossover model from Mercedes-Benz. The recent changes and upgrades to the GLA and the introduction of the GLC SUV models means you need to take a close look at the current versions to fully appreciate what sets them apart from the competition. If you're not sure which model best suits your needs, contact our Paramus, NJ Mercedes-Benz dealer and schedule a test drive of both vehicles.
